Today we got all of  our math books and workbooks. We did a scavenger hunt using our reference book and our math journal. We had to prove all of our answers. We did the very first math problem of the year.

In reading and writing today we did power writing and morning work. We got to practice prefixes and suffixes and read a whole paper in one minute called “Writing a Song.” We traveled to Peru in our minds and heard about a kidnapper in the story.

In Social studies we made funny cartoon characters of ourselves.

In Science we put objects into different groups. We used properties to make new groups. We had a challenge where we put objects in 5 groups instead of two.  When we did the challenge Mrs. Gonzales was impressed because we did it in less than ten minutes.  It was our first Science experiment. We had to be safe because some of the objects were pointy.

We also practiced for a fire drill.

In specials we went to STEM with Mrs. Somerville. We had fun. We played a game called “That’s Me!” and learned about Mrs. Somerville.
