Plant Experiment

By Piper

We’ve been studying soil. We started by touching all of the different kinds of soil like humus, sand, clay, and gravel. We did an experiment to see which soil grew the best plants. We got to choose which soil we wanted to grow a plant in. Then we watered the plants. After a few days we didn’t see any results but Mrs. Gonzales’ plant grew. Only Humus and sand grew plants.  I was excited to do the experiment because I like to have plants. Taking care of a plant makes me feel responsible.

The clay we used for our experiment was kind of sticky. Whenever we used sand for the experiment it was kind of grainy. The gravel was more or less like the sand. The humus just felt like regular soil that we have outside. Some of our plants are growing if they are in the right soil but some of them are not.

Math Songs

By Andrew

In math class we use math songs to learn. We use them to learn things like fractions and polygons. They help us because the dance moves can give us clues on math problems. Some people like to sing along and I sing sometimes. They help us remember strategies. My favorite song is “It is Reasonable?” It’s about finishing really fast and not looking to see if the question is reasonable. The song tries to help you remember to look back and think about your answer before you turn it in.

Math songs are catchy. It’s good that we have math songs in class because it helps us with our work. For example, the fours multiplication songs tells us the fours multiplication facts. Angles are Everywhere song reviews all of the angles. When we do our independent work we sing the songs to ourselves to help us get the answers right. You should use math songs too.
